Université Iba Der Thiam de Thiès (Senegal)

Université Iba Der Thiam de Thiés (UIDT) is a public higher education institution oriented towards science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), serving the economic, social and cultural development of Senegal, Africa and the world. The university has contributed to scientific and technical studies to support the Senegalese National Malaria Control Programme’s (NMCP) seasonal malaria chemoprevention implementation strategies across the country.

Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar (Senegal)

Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar (UCAD) is among West Africa’s top research institution. Its Department of Parasitology trains students and health professionals in the field of malaria and other parasitic diseases to undertake high-quality research for disease control and elimination. The university also hosts the International Centre for Applied Genomics and Health Surveillance (CIGASS), which conducts research to enhance the understanding of diseases and identify new tools and approaches for their surveillance and prevention.

WHO-TDR (Switzerland)

TDR, the Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (co-sponsored by UNICEF, UNDP, WHO and the World Bank), is a global programme of scientific collaboration that helps facilitate, support and influence efforts to combat diseases of poverty. TDR’s malaria research focuses on helping low- and middle-income countries scale up their efforts to diagnose and treat malaria and prevent illness and deaths among the most vulnerable, including pregnant women and children. It also collaborates with researchers in African countries to provide implementation research support and training to improve malaria control.

European Vaccine Initiative (Germany)

The European Vaccine Initiative (EVI) is a non-profit Product Development Partnership (PDP) that supports the development of safe, effective and affordable vaccines to address global health needs. EVI works in partnership with research institutions, industry, funders, policy and decision makers, and other key stakeholders to accelerate vaccine innovation. Through its commitment to cutting edge research and strategic partnership, EVI advances a diverse vaccine portfolio and promotes R&D targeting critical public health challenges and emerging opportunities.

Medicines for Malaria Venture (Switzerland)

Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) is a leading Product Development Partnership (PDP) in antimalarial drug research and development. It has helped create the world’s largest antimalarial drug development portfolio and supports activities to ensure access to medicines for the most vulnerable.

London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (UK)

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is a leading public health university with a global network of specialist centres, units and partners. LSHTM has contributed to groundbreaking studies on malaria transmission and drug resistance, alongside significant advancements in vaccine development. LSHTM Malaria Centre experts have also contributed to the World Health Organization’s updated malaria guidelines, ensuring they reflect the latest evidence and meet the unique needs of endemic regions.

Rabat Collaborating Centre (Morocco)

The Rabat Collaborating Centre (RCC) aims to foster the science and development of pharmacovigilance internationally. Its activities range from supporting countries to build and strengthen their pharmacovigilance systems to training healthcare professionals.
