On 16 October 2025, the OPT-MVAC consortium held its first Regional Safety Group (ReSaG) meeting to discuss rumors and crisis communication around malaria vaccines. The special ReSag meeting (led by the Rabat Collaborating Center) focused on how rumors and disinformation can undermine vaccine acceptance and trust during malaria vaccine roll-out.
The discussion was triggered by a concrete “infodemic” episode in Togo pertaining to its malaria vaccine roll-out, with additional experiences shared by Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana, plus guidance on crisis-communication principles applicable to all OPT-MVAC partner countries, and any others undertaking malaria vaccine implementation.
The session was recorded with simultaneous interpretation in English, French and Portuguese, and is available for viewing here (password: R=hgv5+q). Other downloadable resources include webinar meeting notes and the presentation slide deck.
